Title An interview about the comfort zone with Vincent Colliard Why do you explore places that few others dare to go?
I’m drawn to these remote places for several reasons. Adventure is a big part of who I am. As a kid, I couldn’t always explain it, but I felt a strong pull toward distant places. Over time, I’ve realized these journeys are important to me—they bring balance and joy to my life and keep me sharp.
How do you feel when you step out of your comfort zone?
It might sound odd, but stepping out of my comfort zone makes me feel more alive. It’s a way for me to grow personally. While it can be tough in the short term, it helps me adapt to different situations over time. I become less focused on material things and more connected to who I really am.
Why do you keep pushing your boundaries?
For me, it’s like therapy. It makes me feel strong and capable, not in an arrogant way, but in a way that boosts my confidence. These experiences help me focus on the positive and see the bright side of things. Staying in my comfort zone feels too predictable, and I enjoy a good surprise.
Title An interview about the comfort zone with Vincent Colliard What have you learned about yourself by pushing beyond your comfort zone?
Pushing my limits has taught me to stay calm in chaos, which helps me make better decisions. I've realized that we often set mental limits on ourselves and don't see how strong we really are. I hope more people can overcome their self-doubt. I've also come to value life more and see that fussing over small details is pointless.
What has left the greatest impact on you, and what memories stand out from your adventures?
The most memorable impact has been the unpredictability of the Arctic Ocean. Facing the challenges of drifting sea ice is a transformative experience. Also, seeing the vulnerability of polar regions is striking. Just a small increase in temperature can turn ice into water, which disrupts the lives of polar bears and shows how delicate our planet's balance is.
Why do you think it's important for people to challenge themselves?
Challenging yourself can help you find your way through tough times and overcome fear. It improves problem-solving skills and prepares you for life's difficulties. Instead of seeing problems, you start to see situations to handle. Handling these situations builds confidence and peace, which are key for a happy life. It helps you shape the life you want and appreciate what you have. Plus, these experiences make for great stories to share with others, inspire them, and help you avoid comparing yourself to others. Ultimately, it’s about fully embracing life.
